Rednesday - Red Franciscan Tea Cup Bird Feeder

Thanks to Sue at It's a Very Cherry World, today is a day where we post a picture of something RED!

I love to make things for my garden. Here is a Tea Cup bird feeder that I made from a vintage tea cup and saucer from the set Franciscan Apple. I bought this set at a junk swap meet for $1.00! I love the RED apple print on them!

I find an old wood staircase pole or I buy a new one and distress it to look old. I then seal the wood to withstand the outside elements. Then I drill a hole in the tea cup plate with my drill press

I then screw the plate to the top of the staircase pole with a long wood screw using my hand electric drill with a screw attachment. After that has been done I use a two part epoxy glue to glue the tea cup to the plate. It is so strong that it won't come off!

Now you have something to put into your yard for decoration. Fill it with homemade bird seed or burn a candle in your patio!

I like to dry out my Sunflowers and use the seeds the next season. When the Sunflower starts to turn to seed, put a paper bag over the flower to prevent the squirrels and birds from tearing it apart. When the flower has turned completely to seed, cut off the flower and let it hang dry in a cool dry place. They are great the next year to feed the birds!

Pink Saturday!

I just love to join Ms Beverly at How Sweet the Sound and all the other pinkies every Saturday for Pink Saturday.

I made a new style tea cup bird feeder for my Etsy Store today. I used a heavy and very tall rod iron candle holder with lots of swirl decor. Sprayed it white and epoxy a pretty PINK tea cup and saucer to it.

Today I received these beautiful PINK Azaleas from my son and his wonderful family for Mother's Day. I had text my son and thanked him and he said his wife mentioned they should arrive just in time for PINK Saturday!! Oh yeah....

Does anyone else remember doing this to their kids? I received this card from my son for Mother's Day and I just about fell over laughing....

It said, Happy Mother's Day to Mom, the original Seat Belt........then he made reference to my Lee's Press on nails I use to wear!

I can remember MY mom doing this to us too when we were kids in her 1956 Chevrolet Belair when there was no seat belts! Such fun memories!

My Pink Tea Cup Bird Feeder is in Artful Blogging Magazine!

Almost every Saturday for the past two years I have joined Ms Beverly at How Sweet The Sound for Pink Saturday. When she emailed us a couple months ago and said Pink Saturday was going to be in Artful Blogging magazine, we were all excited for her. She also asked us to submit our favorite Pink Saturday picture for their review.

I submitted a picture I took of my handmade Pink Double Tea Cup Bird Feeder in the garden. Last week I learned my photo was chosen and is in the Summer issue of Artful Blogging. Yesterday I drove around to different stores till I found it! They have a huge display of them at Barnes and Noble.

I am so happy for Beverly and all the other Pink Saturday participants that were chosen for the article.

Pink Saturday

I love this time of the year. My garden is so alive with so many beautiful colors of roses. For Pink Saturday, I first when out in the garden and picked a bouquet of Pink roses.

This rose is called Betty Boop. It is a beautiful color pink with dark pink edges. Here is the bush after I picked my bouquet of roses! There are so many beautiful blooms!

Here is a close up of a cluster of the roses on the bush. I love the two tone colors!

Now its off to my craft room to make some more pink mosaic stepping stones for my garden!

It's Blooming Tuesday Today!

Today is Blooming Tuesday and I love to join Jean over at Miss Green Thumb Jean's Blog and show what is blooming in my garden today.

The weather has been wonderful here, in the upper 80's and low 90's. It has really put a big smile on my spring garden. The weatherman says its suppose to rain Wednesday, so that will be even more wonderful for my garden.

I love this double tea cup bird feeder I made for my garden out of a old wall lamp fixture.

I also love Calla Lilies! They are great to cut and have indoors in a vase. I have them growing by my waterfall for my fish pond and they love the light spray from the water. They are bulbs so don't have them where the ground gets to wet or the bulbs will rot. They will also multiply every year so you can dig up the extra bulbs and plant somewhere else!

I have a area where I have Prim Roses growing. They are so pretty. I just love all the vivid and variety of colors they have. They like semi shade and lots of water and they will come back year after year.

Pretty Spring Garden Art and How To Clean Your Bird Feeders

I love turning my garage and flea market finds into decorations for the garden. Here is a cute romantic yard decor that I made out of a old china gravy boat, old china plates, a old silver spoon,a vintage jewelry brooch and a piece of a old staircase post!

I love my pink daisy bush too! A sure sign that spring is NEAR!

Everything is epoxy or screwed together to last years in your garden. I have even painted and sealed the wood staircase pole to with stand the outside elements too

I love the touch of the vintage brooch on the spoon's handle!

This can be used as a bird feeder, bird bath or just plain garden decor

Do you ever wonder how to easily clean your garden
bird feeders or ceramic bird baths?

Here is a tea cup bird feeder that is over 6 years old. I always leave it in the garden all year long. This is it at the start of this month, all dirty and crusty with water deposits, mud and dirt. Yuck!

I pour CLR into the cup and plate. You can actually watch it start to break up all the deposits. I leave it to clean about 5 minutes. No need to scrub, CLR will do it all.

Just take a hose and rinse it clean! Here it is 5 minutes later all clean and ready for its spring visitors!

Pink Double Bird Feeder

I love to create garden decorations from my flea market finds. Today for Pink Saturday I am posting a cute PINK double Bird Feeder I made for my garden.

This is made from a old iron wall lamp, two tea cups and saucers, an old staircase wood pole and a handmade rose

I found that iron wall lamp in a pile of junk for $1.00. I painted it a pretty pink and screwed it on top of the old wooden staircase pole I used one of my handmade clay roses to cover the screw head. I used strong epoxy glue to glue the tea cup plates and cups together. Then I used the same strong epoxy glue to glue them to the iron wall base where the light bulbs are suppose to go!
