Happy Birthday Pink Saturday - Pink Tea Cup Candle

Today is the 2nd Birthday to Pink Saturday. Congratulations to Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for such a successful and so well participated weekly post.

Today I am posting a picture of a pink tea cup candle. They are so easy and fun to make. They also make a great gift.

HOW TO MAKE A TEA CUP CANDLE

Find a tea cup you can live without or purchase one at a thrift store.

Then you can either purchase candle wax or reuse some melted down from left over burnt out candles.

Melt the wax. It's best to melt it in a double boiler. Wax has a flash point, or a point where it will burst into flames. Fragrances that are added do also. If the wax is smoking it is too hot.
Add in any fragrance you like if the wax is unscented.

Place the wick in the bottom of the tea cup and slowly pour the wax in being careful not to splash it on the edges of the cup.

Let the wax cool.

Ta-Da! You have a beautiful teacup candle to keep or to give as a gift!

Blue Monday - Vintage Candy Machine

I found this old vintage BLUE candy machine for sale at a swap meet not to long ago and I just knew I had to have it for our newly built 50s diner in our yard. (You can see pictures of our vintage diner in the post below) It's BLUE so I thought I would show a picture of it for Blue Monday!

I love finding nests in my yard with blue eggs! They are so precious!

Pink Saturday in our 50s Diner

Tonight my husband and I are having a 50s party in our newly built 50s Diner in our yard. I wanted a vintage diner and he wanted a vintage gas station so we agreed on a middle, the outside is just like a Sinclair vintage gas station and the inside is a diner. We live on 3 acres and we just bought 3 acres next to us so we have plenty of room for a play room!

Here is the inside of the 50s diner as you walk through the front door. I couldn't get the neon sign above the bar to come out in the picture, it says D & A Diner, for Don and Ann's Diner in different colored neon lights.
For years we have been collecting 50s wall memorabilia anticipating one day we will get our 50s diner.
I had all the booths and chairs on both sides of the room covered in red and white vinyl to match a 1957 Chevrolet Belair car. On the shelf you can't see very good but I have a collection of small gas station pumps.
We have 6 fans in the ceiling and they are from the 50s. They are all belt driven from a motor sitting above the front door.
Behind the counter it is all stainless steel with all commercial appliances such as a huge griddle, burners, BBQ, ice cream freezer, refrigerator, microwave, ice machine, soda box, etc.
I bought these wax donuts over at BrightViewCandles Etsy store. Look how real they look! They also smell so good! I have them sitting in a covered cake plate on the counter just like in a real diner!
This is the outside of the building, a vintage Sinclair Gas Station with old gas pumps and a old 1956 Pick up truck sitting in the gas stall. I took the picture at night so that the neon signs could show up but they aren't.
Now, what does all this have to do with Pink Saturday??? Here is the jacket I will be wearing to our 50s party.....Perfect for Pink Saturday!

Pink Saturday - Vintage Pink Perfume Bottle

Today for Pink Saturday I am posting about a pretty dainty PINK perfume bottle that my Mom gave me. She has had this for years and one day she asked me if I wanted all her vintage perfume bottles because she was going to throw them away??? Those 3 words can ruin my day!

Pink Saturday!

I just love to join Ms Beverly at How Sweet the Sound and all the other pinkies every Saturday for Pink Saturday.

I made a new style tea cup bird feeder for my Etsy Store today. I used a heavy and very tall rod iron candle holder with lots of swirl decor. Sprayed it white and epoxy a pretty PINK tea cup and saucer to it.

I love the print on the tea cup and saucer

Today I received these beautiful PINK Azaleas from my son and his wonderful family for Mother's Day. I had text my son and thanked him and he said his wife mentioned they should arrive just in time for PINK Saturday!! Oh yeah....
Does anyone else remember doing this to their kids? I received this card from my son for Mother's Day and I just about fell over laughing....

It said, Happy Mother's Day to Mom, the original Seat Belt........then he made reference to my Lee's Press on nails I use to wear!

I can remember MY mom doing this to us too when we were kids in her 1956 Chevrolet Belair when there was no seat belts! Such fun memories!

Happy Pink Saturday and Happy Mother's Day!

Blue Monday - Vintage Baby Planter

I love to collect vintage lady planters and lately I have been buying vintage baby planters too. They are so cute and I just love their vintage style.

Here is one I bought the other day at a Thrift Store. It is a pretty lamb with a big blue bow around it's neck.

I think it has the sweetest face on it!

My Pink Tea Cup Bird Feeder is in Artful Blogging Magazine!

Almost every Saturday for the past two years I have joined Ms Beverly at How Sweet The Sound for Pink Saturday. When she emailed us a couple months ago and said Pink Saturday was going to be in Artful Blogging magazine, we were all excited for her. She also asked us to submit our favorite Pink Saturday picture for their review.

I submitted a picture I took of my handmade Pink Double Tea Cup Bird Feeder in the garden. Last week I learned my photo was chosen and is in the Summer issue of Artful Blogging. Yesterday I drove around to different stores till I found it! They have a huge display of them at Barnes and Noble.
I am so happy for Beverly and all the other Pink Saturday participants that were chosen for the article.
