A "Hoot" of a Story - Outdoor Wednesday

Today we had the tree trimmers come to cut up some trees. We have recently purchased a 3 acre Avocado Grove next door to our 3 acre property. It was a bank repo, and it has been vacant for 2 years. The place is a mess! We are trying to fix up the little farm house to rent out and nurse the avocado and fruit trees back to health, so we had to call tree trimmers to help us cut off all the dead branches.

The first tree they cut down was a huge dead Palm tree about 25 feet tall. When it fell and hit the ground this is what fell out of a hole in the trunk with a broken egg attached to it's little bottom! Look at her eyes, they are still crossed from getting her bell rang during the fall!

She was so calm because she was a little dingy from her fall that you could pick her up and pet her and she would just look at you with the cutest, sweetest big eyes ever! She didn't even try to fly or flap her wings so I am concerned she is hurt from the fall.

There was 3 eggs in her nest and only one didn't break during the fall. I had the tree trimmers remove her nest and part of the trunk before they put the trunk into the chipper machine! I carefully put it all in a box along with Mrs Owl and cut out a hole on the side of box. I put the box out in my garden. Hopefully Mrs Owl doesn't smell the hands of the trim trimmers that picked up her egg and she likes where she has been relocated! Bloomin' Tuesday

I look forward to every spring to see this lavender trumpet vine in full bloom. The flowers are a pretty lavender and they completely cover the whole bush. Look closely, I have them growing on a pair of old french doors. Some of the windows are missing in the doors and the vines are growing through them. The doors are on each side of a walk way which leads to one of the side yards. I wish you could see the detail in those doors, with all the small little windows but the vine is covering it.

In the front yard I have two rose bushes that greet all my guests before they walk up the front porch. These rose bushes are called Hot Shot. This is a arch way in the garden where I have red vine roses growing on it. I don't know why but the rose bush on the other side of the arch way doesn't bloom at the same time as the one on the right side. It might be because of the position of the sun during the spring months. I will have to remember that next time I position an arch way to plant roses!

Blue Monday

Today is Blue Monday over at Sally's Smiling Sally's Blog. I love to join her every Monday and post something blue.

Here is a vintage planter I recently picked up at a thrift store. It's a vintage baby booties planter with blue accents. I also have it sitting on a vintage hand made towel with pretty blue edging.

I also love this blue sign I have hanging in our bedroom.
I love vintage hankies too. I am always picking them up at thrift stores, eBay and Etsy. Here are a few I just bought that have blue in them

I used vintage hankies for a valance in my laundry room. I put a clothes line across the top of the french doors and hung vintage hankies using vintage clothes pins. Look how cute this blue hankie looks!

Pink Saturday

I love this time of the year. My garden is so alive with so many beautiful colors of roses. For Pink Saturday, I first when out in the garden and picked a bouquet of Pink roses.

This rose is called Betty Boop. It is a beautiful color pink with dark pink edges. Here is the bush after I picked my bouquet of roses! There are so many beautiful blooms!

Here is a close up of a cluster of the roses on the bush. I love the two tone colors!

Now its off to my craft room to make some more pink mosaic stepping stones for my garden!

Vintage Rooster and Chicken for Rednesday

Sue Loves Cherries Blog sees red every Wednesday. So today for Rednesday I am posting a picture of a cute vintage Rooster and Hen set I bought the other day at a Thrift Store. I was immediately drawn to them because I collect Roosters and Chickens in my kitchen and I immediately knew these little guys just had to come home with me!

You can tell from their appearance that they are old, probably from around the 40s? The red on their heads are quite worn from their age.

Pink Saturday - Vintage Thrift Items

Hello for Pink Saturday today! Thanks so much for visiting my blog! Today I am showing pictures of some pink thrift store items I have purchased this week!

I was so excited when I found this at the Goodwill Store for $2.00. This is from the early 1950s and its a vintage baby planter.

I also purchased this pretty pink lady planter this week. She will look great with my collection of vintage lady planters.

I also picked up some vintage linens with pink flowers for .50 cents each!

It's Blooming Tuesday Today!

Today is Blooming Tuesday where I join Jean over at Green Thumb Jean's Blog and post pictures of what is blooming in my garden today!

This Rose Bush is called St Joseph's Coat. I have it growing on an old salvaged green rusty iron fence

This is a planter out by my husband's workshop that I have planted Gerbera Daisies 2 years ago and they are still going strong

I call this bush with these giant clusters of flowers my "Bee Magnet" Bush!

My Marigold Patch. These are the giant ones that get 2 feet tall when they are mature

This is an Iris patch that I have growing on a little hill overlooking the pool area

There is just something about white daisy bushes that make me smile!

This is a old outhouse I like to hang old vintage rusty junk on the outside and inside I use it for all my pond supplies.

Pink Saturday - The Flower Fields

Every year during the spring months the Flower Fields down in Carlsbad, California (near San Diego) are open to the public. If you are near this area during the spring months, you have to go see this spectacular sight. It is open now till Mothers Day.

This is 50 acres of the most beautiful blooms on a hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Every year I have my husband take me there so that I can drool.

You get to ride around the 50 acres on a trailer being pulled by a tractor. Look at all those beautiful PINK Giant Tecolote Ranunculus.

This flower farm has been here for over 60 years. They also have a beautiful rose garden.
And then when you are finished walking around the Flower Fields, in order to get out of the farm, you have to walk through a beautiful huge Flower Nursery with every imaginable flower and garden decor for sale....I Love it there!

Blooming Tuesday

I love spring time in my garden. There are two plants that only bloom for me in the spring and I look forward to them every year. They are my Orchids and my Pink Amaryllis.

I have a pink Amaryllis plant that is blooming right now that has 12 flowers on it. I planted one bulb 3 years ago, it was a gift to me for my birthday from a friend.

They have the prettiest blooms on them. I planted this one under one of my rose bushes. My Rottweiler dog Buck smashed my last one, so I planted this one somewhere he won't lay!

My Cymbidium Orchids are also blooming. I keep them in pots in my patio outside my bedroom. They will last for weeks cut in a vase as long as you change the water frequently.
