My Vintage Barbie Collection

I am a collector of many things, but this is my most prize collection. My Vintage Barbie Doll Collection. I have been collecting a lifetime. I thought I would post pictures of it for Pink Saturday!

My husband built me the ultimate place to display my collection. A fake pink and turquoise blue store front. On the left are some of my vintage barbies and clothes, in the middle behind the front doors are my Holiday Barbies, and on the right is a mix of some vintage dolls, items, Ornament Tree and newer collector Barbies.
I had a custom made neon sign made that says, Barbie and Friends I have at least one if not more of every Barbie they have ever made from 1959-1970 plus their friends

My pride and joys, my #1 Barbies.
My #2 Barbie and a few of my #3 Barbies
Behind the fake front doors of the store is my collection of Holiday Barbies. I have every one they ever made from 1988 through 2010. My newer collection of Barbies. These are some of the Collectibles ones they have made like Star Trek, Wizard of Oz, etc.

I also have in my collection some of the dolls that came dressed in a outfit and not in a swim suit. They were kinda rare to find. Their boxes were different with a blue stripe.

My American Dolls

Every doll has a label with it's description and year
I have almost every outfit from 1959 to 1970. Most of them are in the package and have never been opened!
Barbie and Ken Paper dolls and a barbie diary
I have every Pak they ever made except for one. :( I am missing the Fur Hat and Bag Pak from 1963. (I have been trying to find it for over 20 years and I can't) This is a few of the paks I have hanging on the wall on hooks.

This is the Bild Lili Doll from 1955. This is the German doll that Mattel used to create Barbie. I bought this doll on ebay from someone in Germany. I have the large and the small Bild Lili Dolls. This doll completed my collection!

A few vintage Barbies wearing some very popular outfits, Barbie's very rare Mink Stole, Easter Parade, Suburban Shopper and Roman Holiday

Barbie's Sports Car. She use to drive around town with Ken.

Barbie wearing American Airlines Stewardess outfit. I also have the outfit in a never opened package from the 60s. She also came with her Airplane, that is down on the floor next to my record player.

This is my PINK Barbie Ornament Tree where I display all my Barbie Collectibles Ornaments. I keep it in the window all year long.
This is one of my favorite outfits from the 60s. Its called Enchanted Evening with a beautiful silk pink dress , white fur stole, long white gloves, see through shoes and a pearl necklace. Here I have a vintage ponytail barbie from the 60s displaying the vintage outfit, then I have the vintage outfit from 1960 that is still in the package, never opened. I also have the newer Anniversary Barbie where they recreated her wearing that dress and I have the collector plate. This is my record player when I was a little girl. It still works! I have displayed on it Barbie sings records. She actually made some recordings in the early 60s and had them on records!
The Barbie store is inside our huge 12,000 sq foot Museum (in our back yard!) where we house some of our other collectibles in fake store front buildings and our vintage cars and other vintage items. Come back later this week and I will show you what is inside the building next to my Barbie Store, a vintage Barber Shop!

Oh my! I don't know much about Barbie Dolls because both myself and my daughter preferred Breyer horses while growing up, but I can tell your collection is amazing!

Do you live anywhere near the High Desert? I think we're around 50 miles east (or north-east, anyway) of LA, too.

Happy PS! ::Jill

Precious!

And your husband is precious too, for being able to make such things. Lucky we are, to be married to men who can "make" things! :-)

I came over from "How Sweet The Sound." What a sweet blogging name you have. Anne Fannie! Love it! It's so sweet and old fashioned sounding. :-)

Gentle hugs...

How I LOVE this!!! I was a huge Barbie girl, and still have everything I ever owned. Of course, mine has little or no value other than sentimental since I played (and played and played and...) with the whole kit and caboodle.

What a wonderful hobby and collection.

I found you from reading at Pink Saturday.

Oh such a beautiful share here today. I am SO thrilled that you took me inside the Barbie and Friends store. What treasures. I have never seen so many Barbies and all of the accessories and even your record player. I am just tickled pink. What I wouldn't love to be able to walk through this museum piece of yours. You all have done an amazing job of recreating a little town of your own.

Honey I have so enjoyed my tour, and I can't wait to see what is in the store next door. Thank you for sharing with me. Now lets hop in that Barbie sports car and take a spin about the shop shall we?

Love ya girl. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

Now, THAT's a REAL collection!

My daughter had a 1960-63 Barbie--I can't remember for sure...

When she "outgrew" it, I gave it to her younger cousin. I was surprised when she got angry with me.

If you have more than one from then, would you consider selling it? I'd love to present it to my 50 year-old "little" girl!

I do still have parts of the Fashion Shoppe. I so love how you have displayed your entire collection! I've got that same record set, too. Can still sing the songs by heart!

Thanks so much for sharing your amazing collection. I'm your newest follower!

Fantastic & breath taking!!! I wonder if you can inform me about a vintage CREAM DRESS & CREAM FUR STOLE "Enchanted Evening" that I bought, and the sequins are lower than I have seen on original dresses, & came with a vintage Barbie with nipples. (Definitly was not white at any stage). Thank you. DM

This is the best thing I've seen all day. Love looking at every little thing, outfit, doll. Wow. I still have a decent amount of my vintage Barbie things and a few dolls. I've purchased much over the years, but nothing like this!

To the anon poster above, I grew up in Redondo Beach CA, just a few miles from the Mattel manufacturing plant. SOMEHOW (I'll never know) my Dad came across a Ken doll that was anatomically correct. I kid you not! Somewhere here, I have a very faded color Polaroid profile pic of that doll in a webbed lawn chair. Circa 1969-1970. Being a girl that played a LOT with Barbie & Ken, I knew it was him and not a cheap knock off. I was blown away. So maybe this ties in with your Barbie with nipples. Dad said they made an adult line....wonder where all THOSE are now, heh?

Lovely collection and a superb showcase for them. I thought you might like to know that the fur pak is generally accepted as being a mistake on the part of Sarah Sink Eames, the author of the early identification book. It never existed. You can check with Joe Blitman, if you question it.

Hi, I am just wondering how you keep your barbies from deteriorating. Recently I just discovered that some of my barbies are now in a bad state after keeping them in a display cabinet..I hope you can give me advice. I posted some pictures in here http://www.whizzersrose.com/2013/04/childs-play.html I cleaned them with color safe bleach but I don't want my new barbies to suffer the same fate as my old dolls- hope you can give me advice. Thanks

Hello. First of all, let me say that your collection is absolutely amazing! I am totally jealous! What a collection! And the "storefront" home that your husband built to house your collection is just lovely. What a talented guy. Now, I need your help. I am trying to find good representative Barbies with nipples. I have read different descriptions, and the pictures I have seen are not helpful. If you have a Barbie with nipples, could you post a picture? Second, do you have a Barbie with the "painted" legs that were supposed to imitate hosiery? If so, could you post a picture? Thank you; I really appreciate it. And I agree with the other comment saying that your collection is more like a museum. Tours would be amazing!. Thank you again, Tyra

If you are in California just may have to stalk you. So lovely absolute treasures. The packaged outfits are what stood out to me the most. I feel as tho they are pieces of art and surely will go up in value. I am sure you'll never open them. I want your NRFB modern art. I think its barbies most gorgeous dress. kind regards s.

I have what I am thinking is a rare 1998 Barbie that I can not seem to identify & was wondering if you could help? I have browsed through countless phtos & can not find her. She is wearing a VERY fancy maroon & green striped Victorian bustle day dress & a maroon hat with a little maroon rose on top & ties under her chin with a green ribbon. Shoes are also maroon in color. She has hazel eyes & maroon lipstick & gold stud earrings.

Thank you & God bless!

I was wondering if you could help me out. I have some quality cardboard barbie dolls( think paper dolls but thicker and has a glossy finish. I tried to find some information on when it is made, if it is rare or not and nothing. It comes in its own box( think gameboard style. Have you ever run across it before?

I have never heard of such a collection outside of a Barbie museum. This is incredibly impressive! I'm fairly new to vintage barbie, but in learning I came across your blog. I have a couple of the vintage girls that I have identified well enough, but I can't figure out this one I have. Can't tell if she's a #3 or #4. She has a factory braid with the original rubber band (looks frail) and wears the Evening Splendor 961 outfit. Would you know? I can send a pic if you want. My email is imacamaro@gmail.com
