Giveaway gift I received

A while back I entered a giveaway on Dawn 4:53 am blog. It was her 1000th post! I was so happy to hear I won and last week I received her box in the mail.

It came all wrapped up in pretty lavender tissue paper and a pretty lace ribbon.

She included a very nice hand written note....

She sent me a beautiful handmade eye glass case. There is such pretty detailed work on this with hand stitching, beads, a ribbon and button closure! I just love the fabric she used!
She also sent me some extra chocolate goodies and a yummy candle
Thank you Dawn for sending me these lovely gifts and congratulations on your 1000th post!

Blooming Tuesday

Today is Blooming Tuesday! Jean at Ms Green Thumb hosts Blooming Tuesday every Tuesday.

We are to show pictures of blooms either in your garden or in a pot! I love participating each week and Jean is a great person and it has been great getting to know her better.

I thought I would show you a picture of a Tropical plant I have blooming today. This plant was here when we moved here. I do not know the name so if any of you know the name, I sure would appreciate it. I tried searching on Google but could not find it.

The plant is over 6 feet tall. It has long green leaves and in January if we get frost, the whole plant needs to be cut down and then it grows back in spring.

The blooms start off with this huge bud in late summer early fallThen it blooms into this yellow flower. It has a sweet smell and it will attract ants if I am not careful

I walked by this today and just had to take a picture of it. It's a Pink Hibiscus bloom peeking out between some Chrysanthemum plants
Here's some fresh picked Pomegranates
This Rose bush lives up to it's name. It's called Hot Shot and it's really beautiful today. It is the same rose bush I have in my Blog header.

This is a really cute spinning squirrel I have in my front yard. When the wind hits it, it starts to spin and the squirrel looks like it is dancing!

Blue is for Blue Mondays

Today is Blue Monday. Smiling Sally loves the color Blue and she has Blue Monday every Monday. I thought I would join in this week.

I love Enamelware/Granite ware. My favorite is blue however I do have other colors especially the green and red. This is a dark Blue swirl Enamelware/ Granite ware teapot I bought a few years back on ebay. I don't drink tea, but I just like the looks of it. It dates back to around 1920.

This is a large blue platter I mosaic with blue china pieces.
This past week I had two of my Grandchildren visiting me from Utah. I just loved having them and we had so much fun. This picture I took Thursday on our day at Sea World in San Diego while we were watching Shamu the Killer Whale Show. I love the deep blue water.
Thank you for visiting my blog today. Please visit Smiling Sally's Blog for more Blue Mondays!

Blooming Tuesday

Another Blooming Tuesday today! Jean at Ms Green Thumb Jean hosts Blooming Tuesday every Tuesday. I just love participating.

Well, October and November in Southern California brings on the Santa Ana Winds and with the winds comes the fires! Today it is so windy and smoky. The winds are around 50 mph and the gusts are around 70 mph. My yard looks like it was hit with a bomb. There are leaves and tree branches everywhere. My pool actually has a layer of leaves on top and you cannot see the water! Luckily I took these pictures right before the really bad winds hit. Thank God the fires are not near us. My prayers go out to those people who have lost their home today. Behind us is the Cleveland National Forest so we get nervous when ever the Santa Ana winds blow.

My Red Petunias are still going strong
I love this Pink Pentas Plant mixed in with my Coleus and Caladiums
My Mums are blooming so colorful. I like to keep them cut short so that when they bloom they are not long and fall over
My Gerbera Daisies are doing their last show for the year

My Pecan Tree is so full of Pecans this year. I have never tried to harvest them in the past. I will try this year

This is my Bottle Brush Tree in Bloom. The blooms look like bottle brushes!

Isn't this the cutest sign? I just hung it up today on one of my fences. It's an old window shutter with a vintage sifter and vintage cheese grated hanging from it. It says Fresh Baked Pumpkin Pies
Thanks for visiting me on Blooming Tuesday!

My Pink broom and pink dust pan!So then I immediately thought, well how about my Pink measuring cups and Pink measuring spoons? Here's a very pretty framed wall hanging in Pink embroidered lettering "Families Are Forever"I bought this cup and saucer set on ebay a while back. I am going to make a Tea Cup bird feeder out of it one day. It has pink flowers under the name "Grandma" My garden has so much pink in it today. This immediately caught my eye. My very well used pink knee pad that I use when I do my gardening!
I got so excited when I saw this plant the other day for sale. It is called Lipstick Pink. I have other Hibiscus plants but not one this vivid Pink! Then I got really excited when I saw the end of season price tag on it of only $3.89!
