Blue Monday - Blue Turkey

Today is Blue Monday over at Smiling Sally's Blog! I love to join her on Mondays and post something blue.

Did you know a Turkey's Head is Blue?? I found out the scary way. About two years ago, I was on my knees doing gardening in my yard. Have you ever felt like something was looking at you? I looked up through some plants and this is the head that I saw starring at me!
After I screamed and went running, I finally composed myself and went back to see what the heck I saw and the creature came out of the bushes to show his beautiful body. It was a wild Turkey! Somehow he had flew into my yard!

He was so beautiful and he was also friendly so I assumed he was some one's pet. He would let you touch him and pet him and he liked to follow you around the yard. My grandson loved to play with him! He hung around in our yard for about a week and then he finally flew away. One of my neighbors told me the Animal Control picked it up walking down the street. I hope he wasn't some one's dinner. I was amazed that something that big could fly and also how ugly his head is. But it was blue, perfect for Blue Monday!

Ann, I would have been terrified to see him staring at me through the bushes, too but he sounds so sweet! And that blue is very pretty on his face. Awwwww... I hope someone got him and took him home to be a pet.

Happy Blue Monday!

XO,

Sheila :-)

That WOULD give anyone a scare! The shade of blue is quite pretty, but I agree with you, Ann, he is ugly! Happy Blue Monday.

They are only beautiful when they strut their stuff! Otherwise, they aren't so attractive, huh? My son raises turkeys and we are surrounded by wild ones in our woods.

Miss Ann, I got goosesbumps when I saw the first pic, it looks like a big worm. You did a great job, taking pictures of the turkey that close.

A pet would be nicer than on someone's dinning table for sure.
Anne I was also in a Catholic School. I did enjoy the nun's, but sometimes they would be a little mean, but mostly kind.
Happy Blue Monday

I have always thought turkeys were beautiful. I have never had a single bite or taste of turkey in my whole life. I am 70 so I am not apt to ever have a taste. They just seem so cute, I feel the same about ducks, rabbits and really have to tell myself that I am not really eating a chicken when I am.
A cute blue Post!

Hello Anne, I laughed when I read your post just now. Turkeys are colorful and funny looking. We have lots of wild turkeys in NC where we live. Once we counted 30 of them. four mommas and the rest babies. I actually posted about it last year. I hope he is still alive and kicking.

Hugs, Jeanne

That is so funny, Ann! We see wild turkeys around here all the time, but I have to admit I've never been that close to one before. The color of his plumage was wonderful!
