Pink Christmas Memories

Today is Christmas and Pink Saturday. I thought it would be fitting to post a picture of a doll that Santa Claus brought to me over 50 years ago this day. This is my Tiny Tears doll wearing a pink diaper.

May all your Christmas memories be Merry and Bright!

Merry Christmas and Happy Pink Saturday!

Love, Ann

Rain, Rain Go Away!!

Here in Southern California we have always welcomed rain.......but, not this past week! Today is day 7 of torrential rain! My beautiful yard and garden looks like it was hit with a bomb!

First, it's hard to get to our house because this was once our road out front! I took this picture this morning with my iPhone as I was pulling out our driveway trying to get to the store! We have lots of lookie loos that come up here to check it out!

We have lots of down trees throughout our yard!

I took this picture from my front porch this morning. It looks like we have a lake across the street and we are now lake front property.

It's funny because across the street from our property is this huge dried up catch basin. For years we have lived here and I have never seen water in it. They call it the 100 year old flood basin. I have always said, why don't they just put a park or plant trees or something there, why leave it all empty, full of weeds and looking ugly. Ok, I take back all my complaints, because this is that giant hole today! Its full of water that would have flooded my yard if it wasn't there!

Hoping for a drier tomorrow!

Merry Rednesday!

I think RED Poinsettia flowers were on my mind this year as I decorated my kitchen. I bought the prettiest RED Christmas Rooster.

It has pretty Poinsettias flowers all around the bottom.
This is my first attempt to make my own table cloth. I just loved the vintage looking Poinsettia fabric!
Of course, a big fresh potted Poinsettia plant just screams Christmas!

I have a life sized Carousel horse that looks so pretty next to the Christmas tree!

Merry Christmas and have a Wonderful and Prosperous New Years!

Rooster Quilt - Blue Monday

Today I received the most beautiful Christmas gift from my friend Martha. She makes the most beautiful quilts and was I surprised when she gave me a Rooster quilt made especially for me! She knows how much I love Roosters! Look how beautiful this quilt is!
She even picked out fabric that looks like chicken wire!
This is the back

This is a close up of the back

Martha has a Etsy store called Moffie Rose Quilts where she sells her quilts. Stop by and check out some of her other lovely creations.

A Trip Up the California Coastline

Last week was my birthday. My husband and I and our good friends took a drive up the central California Coastline.

We left from the Los Angeles area and headed up. Our first night's stop was in Morro Bay. Morro Bay is a quaint little waterfront city. You cannot drive up the coastline and not stop at the Hearst Castle. This Castle which sits on top a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean shows the eclectic lifestyle and collecting passion of William Randolph Hearst.

It is built on 127 acres and it took 30 years to build!

My favorite was the Neptune Pool. Look how blue the water is!

Mr Hearst's private Library off his bedroom was unbelievable!

We also stopped at a beach called Seal Beach. Look at all those sea lions laying along the beach! You can see them for miles!

I tried to zoom in on them, their little faces were so cute!

Our next stop was Monterey Bay. I loved Monterey! They had a nice Fisherman's Wharf and the shopping downtown was GREAT! I got some Christmas Shopping done at the Coach Store!

We also visited Carmel-By-The Sea

There is a 17 Mile area that is guarded and you have to pay a fee to enter through any of the 5 toll guard booths! I have lived in California my whole life, so it made me roll my eyes. The last time my husband and I took this drive was right after we got married. There were no toll booths then. What a joke!

My favorite beach was Pebble Beach. I took my shoes off and ran into the water right at this spot. It was SO COLD that it actually took my breath away!!!
The trees all along this area were odd looking Cypress Trees. Here is one I took a picture of that is quite different looking.

There was a lot of scenic stop areas, I was taking pictures at every stop!

This is the Lone Cypress Tree. It has sat here perched above the Pacific Ocean on this rock for over 200 years. Thanks for joining me on my trip up the coast. I hope you enjoyed the pictures!

Pink Barbie Christmas Tree

Today is Pink Saturday and I am going to post pictures of my PINK Barbie Christmas Tree that I put up every year.

I collect Barbie Ornaments so they look so great on a PINK Tree.

Sorry these pictures aren't very clear. I took them with my cell phone and not my expensive camera!

This weekend I am going to unveil my 20 year collection of vintage Barbies. My husband built me an awesome display building to display all my Barbies and vintage clothing. They are putting the neon sign on the building tomorrow so I will post pictures of it when its complete! The building is inside our vintage car collection building. I am so excited!

A Easy Christmas Wreath to Make

Yesterday I made a cute Christmas Wreath for a Service Auction. Every item submitted had to be hand made.
I first started with a plain artificial green wreath that you can buy at any craft store. I added a home made bow in a candy cane print. You can also buy these bows already made up. I tied this one on and added glittered holly sticks on each side.

All the ornaments I added are glass balls. I added a glass candy cane ornament hanging in the center. I then started gluing flowers and branches in the blank areas.

The wreath came out really cute and it is so easy to make!
