I love to make things for my garden. Here is a Tea Cup bird feeder that I made from a vintage tea cup and saucer from the set Franciscan Apple. I bought this set at a junk swap meet for $1.00! I love the RED apple print on them!
I find an old wood staircase pole or I buy a new one and distress it to look old. I then seal the wood to withstand the outside elements. Then I drill a hole in the tea cup plate with my drill press
I then screw the plate to the top of the staircase pole with a long wood screw using my hand electric drill with a screw attachment. After that has been done I use a two part epoxy glue to glue the tea cup to the plate. It is so strong that it won't come off!
Now you have something to put into your yard for decoration. Fill it with homemade bird seed or burn a candle in your patio!
I like to dry out my Sunflowers and use the seeds the next season. When the Sunflower starts to turn to seed, put a paper bag over the flower to prevent the squirrels and birds from tearing it apart. When the flower has turned completely to seed, cut off the flower and let it hang dry in a cool dry place. They are great the next year to feed the birds!

I really like that idea...I think I would put candle in it. That would be so cute for the evening hours.

Oh, I want one of these! Love it...
What little bird would not like to have a bite from that feeder. Great idea and you did very well with making yours.
I love the tea cup bird feeder. And it's even better with red apples on it. I want to make some of these. I think it's the drilling that scares me. Have you tried glueing all the pieces?

Oh, it's beautiful Ann! I love how you've given new life (not to mention a wonderful purpose) to all those gorgeous cups and saucers!
How darling, sweetpea! I can just see a couple of those strewn around my back yard...if Love Bunny will make them for me and put them up. Sigh...he hates moving around all the stuff I want in the yard, chick, but I insist and he does it.

Ya'll have a fun filled blessed day!!! :o)
Great idea!!!
Oh! I love that! I love the cup and saucer by themselves (adorable find!) and I love it for the birdies. (We're big bird feeders over here too.) Thanks so much for the inspiration and tutorial.
Happy Rednesday,
Sally
