Pink Saturday - Vintage Pink Bowl

Today for Pink Saturday I am posting a picture of a vintage pink bowl that was given to me by a special friend. It is a pretty colored pink, heavy glass, has four legs and has lovely designs all over it. I think it was so sweet of her to give to me. She said when she came across it in her garage she thought of me because she has seen my Pink Saturday Posts!
I love all the pretty designs on the glass! It has no markings on it at all, so if anyone recognizes this bowl please let me know what it is and from what date!
Please go over to Beverly at How Sweet the Sound Blog, our hostess for PINK Saturday and leave a message. Today she is doing a special fund raiser. It is a fundraiser for a lady who has breast and bone cancer and may lose her home. For every message left on Beverly's blog, $1.00 will be donated to the Colette Gauthier Home Fund. Please find time to visit Beverly's Blog and leave a message to help this great cause. My father died of bone cancer and I just lost my friend of 44 years 2 weeks ago to breast cancer. Let's join together and help this lady and leave a message on Beverly's blog by clicking here HOW SWEET THE SOUND BLOG

Vintage Thingie Thursday - China For the Birds!

I love to collect Vintage China Plates and Tea Cups and Saucers. A while ago, I ordered a whole lot of China Plates on Ebay. They arrived all broken! I saw a vision in all those broken pieces of China for the Birds!

I took these pictures yesterday, look how pretty my pink daisy bush is! Doesn't it know it's the middle of January?

Pink Double Bird Feeder

I love to create garden decorations from my flea market finds. Today for Pink Saturday I am posting a cute PINK double Bird Feeder I made for my garden.

This is made from a old iron wall lamp, two tea cups and saucers, an old staircase wood pole and a handmade rose

I found that iron wall lamp in a pile of junk for $1.00. I painted it a pretty pink and screwed it on top of the old wooden staircase pole I used one of my handmade clay roses to cover the screw head. I used strong epoxy glue to glue the tea cup plates and cups together. Then I used the same strong epoxy glue to glue them to the iron wall base where the light bulbs are suppose to go!

Vintage Thingie Thursday - Vintage Garden Thingies

Today for Vintage Thingie Thursday I am going to post pictures of some vintage garden thingies I have. I am so sorry for the people under snow and ice in parts of the US but I live in Southern California and the weather has been beautiful and in January I start to prepare my garden for spring.

Last week I was at a huge swap meet in Arizona and I picked up these vintage old wash tubs sitting on a old stand with wheels. I couldn't wait to put them in my garden. Here it is and I have planted snapdragons, pansies and stock inside them.

In the background of the above picture you can see my vintage bed. I have turned it into a flower bed and I have added some pansies as the pillow.

The area I live in use to be orange groves and avocado groves. I have found some old vintage smudge pots behind a old building near me. I have put several of them in different places in my garden, I think they have character! This is a old vintage pitch fork that I added a birdhouse on it and stuck it into the ground

Pink Roses Tea Cup Birdfeeder

Today for Pink Saturday I am going to post pictures of this cute tea cup bird feeder I made the other day.
The Vintage tea cup and saucer is from the China set Old Country Roses. I love all the pink roses on it! I also epoxy a old vintage silver spoon on the plate too for the birds to sit and eat!

The weather here in Southern California has been so beautiful. Today it was 85 degrees! My garden is alive with lots of beautiful blooms! I have to cut back all my roses and I have been stalling because I still have lots of beautiful blooms like these pink rosesEven the Pink daisies are blooming where I decided to take pictures of my tea cup bird feeder!

My Sweet Friend is gone

It's hard for me to write this, but my girl friend for the past 44 years has passed away. We became friends when we were 15 years old. They use to call us Lucy and Ethel. We were always getting in some kind of trouble throughout high school. We were in each other's weddings and we celebrated the births of our children together. We had lost contact for a few years and I posted my profile on Classmates.com hoping she was looking for me too. It only took her a month to find me there! She called me one day and said she was fighting the biggest fight of her life, breast cancer. Through the past two years, despite her courageous battle with cancer, she always made me laugh. She use to tell me how precious life is, and never to take anything for granted. We would meet for lunch or I would take her to doctors appointments. The whole time we would laugh, she had so much courage, hope and strength. I am going to miss her....

Blue Monday - Vintage Glass Chicken

Today is Blue Monday, time to post something Blue.

During the New Years holiday, we spent the week at our vacation home on the Colorado River. Beautiful weather and a gorgeous and relaxing time with friends. We drove down to Quartz site, Arizona to their annual huge Swap meet. We picked up lots of goodies, but I just couldn't resist this Vintage Blue Glass Chicken! I have lots of blue glass chickens and hens, but this turquoise blue just caught my eye! Perfect for Blue Monday too!

Pink Saturday - Project for 2010

Beverly at How Sweet the Sound has asked us to post today about a special project we want to accomplish for 2010.
The first of every year I make list of the things I want to accomplish for the year. I make two columns, one for the list of things I want to get done for the year like redecorating a room, going on a trip, etc and the other column for spiritual things I want to accomplish for the year. I like to look at this list throughout the year to see if I am on track to my goals. I have been doing this for over 20 years. It is fun to look back at the old lists and see how my priorities have changed throughout the years!

One of my special projects for this year is to redo and paint my potting shed. This is the cutest little building I have in my garden filled with all my gardening items. Here is a picture of how it looks today before the makeover.
The outside is painted a redwood color now. I want to brighten it up with a pretty paint job. I know you are thinking, it is Pink Saturday today, is she going to paint it PINK? Nope. I am going to paint it a light yellow with white trim. I thought it would be nice to have it match my home.

Happy New Year!
