Along with gardening and crafts I also have a passion for collecting Vintage Barbie.
This is a #1 Brunette Ponytail Barbie from 1959. The very first Barbie ever made.
This is a #2 Blonde Barbie. She is like the #1 only she does not have holes on the bottom of her feet. She is wearing a very rare outfit Roman Holiday. She is also from 1959.
This is a #3 Brunette Ponytail Barbie. She is from 1960. They made her eyes alot softer looking than the #1 and #2 Barbies. She is wearing another rare outfit, Easter Parade.
From left to right: #1 Barbie in Zebra swimsuit, #1 Barbie wearing another rare outfit Gay Parisienne, #2 Barbie wearing Roman Holiday, #3 Barbie wearing Easter Parade, and #3 Barbie wearing Solo in the Spotlight.
I have over 150 Vintage barbies. I have every Barbie ever made from 1959 to 1970. Alot of them are still in the box never been played with! Aside from collecting the actual Barbies, I also have over 1,000 outfits from 1959 to 1970.
Big girls just never grow up playing with Barbie!
OH MY!!! I Love your Barbie collection! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteI am adding your blog to mine too :) I love your work! I have had your Etsy shop as one of my favorites for awhile :)
Hugs,
Amy
What an awesome collection. I only had one Barbie growing up...a suntan Malibu Barbie about 1967 or '68 vintage with blonde hair in a "flip". I am sorry to say that I sure didn't take very good care of her...loved her to death I guess. My girls have had Barbies everywhere for years, and keeping only a couple very favorites they gave the whole collection to a little newly adopted 7 year old daughter of my friend. I have always thought Barbies were fun.
ReplyDeleteI love, Love, LOVE Barbie as well!! I am afraid I don't have any except for a replica Barbie of one of the first made, in a zebra striped swim suit but I love her to bits. I fell in love with Barbie when I was a little girl and had one with a black bubble hair do and a black patent leather carrying case/clothes holder. I had been saving them but alas, my sister and brother sold her and all her clothes etc. at a yard sale one year when I was away on a school trip. :-( I have enjoyed seeing yours this morning though!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, many thanks for visiting Thatchwick Cottage during the great porch party. It was lovely having you. I also admire your porch and have picked up so many ideas for redecorating my own. My daughters were great Barbie fans and I have their Barbies and all the clothes to hand down to my granddaughters who aren't quite old enough yet. Have a good day. Eleanor
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, over 150 Barbies! That is an amazing collection. I was too old by the time Barbies came along, so I missed out on them.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Rhondi
Wow that is quite a collection! They are so pretty and I bet
ReplyDeletevery valuable too.
Oooooh, I just love vintage Barbies. I had the original Barbie when I was a child. However, my mother downsized and the Barbies were lost forever. So sad...what I would not give to have my Barbies. But I still have all of my daughter's stored away for her. What wonderful, fond childhood memories your pictures brought back for me, sweet Anne!
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother made all our Barbie clothes. We had a quite extensive collection as there were 3 of us girls. Then my youngest sister had 2 daughters and my Mom gave all the Barbies to them. The great flood of 93 took their home and all the Barbies. Bummer....
ReplyDeleteYou have a fabulous collection and I, as a collector of many things, do seriously appreciate it. They are beautiful and I'm sure would fetch a pretty price. But the thing about coolecting is that we do it because we truely love our things not because we want to sell them. The true value is in our hearts.
Amazing collection! I had forgotten how much Barbie had slowly "morphed" over time. She's much younger looking now. Thanks for sharing those.
ReplyDeleteYour vingate barbies are lovely... wow, what a treasure! Thanks for vising my house in the roses, and hope you can participate in our Show me your Garden Party, on the 21st!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend

Love those Barbies. You must know Scrappy Jessi. She is also really into Barbie.
ReplyDeleteI never owned a Barbie, can you believe it? Wow, I think I didn't realize how much fun I was missing. I did have a Tressy doll though.

What a wonderful collection you have! My Mom liked TAMMY so I have a collection of my original Tammy goodies. I DO have lots of collectable Barbies form the days when WE NEVER would open the box. AND in my Tammy trunk there are original goodies from the first barbies like her striped swimsuit and eyeglasses. They must have gotten in there from friends who had the Barbies...
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing...
Have a wonderful week,
Donna
Beautiful !!! Love your Collection !
ReplyDeleteI Love Barbies !!!
I so enjoyed looking at your FABULOUS Barbie collection. What a wonderful husband to build you such a great store to display them so beautifully! Barbie holds a special place in my heart too. As I child I SO wanted a Barbie. My parents couldn't afford to give me one, so I had to make do with those a cheap copy. My friends all had Barbies and I so longed for a real one. When I was about ten my friend broke her growing hair Barbie by pulling out her hair piece. She swapped the broken Barbie head for my cheap imation. So I had a barbie head on a cheap imitation body for years until I finished school and started work. With my very first pay packet I went to the shops with my sister and bought both of us a REAL Barbie each! When I came home I took my old growing hair Barbie head and put it on the new barbie body and I still have that doll today (even though I'm in my fifties). Years later I bought a beautiful #3, which is one of my most prized possessions, and I have lots of the original outfits, which I have collected over the years. Thanks for sharing your collection. :) Michelle
ReplyDeleteI have a few of those rare not in bathing suits, but elegant attire vintage 1959-1964 genuine by Mattel never taken out of box still with plastic covering heads in box with all accessories, also never opened. I am looking to sell to someone that can really care for them and that has a place to share its beauty. i.e. Barbie is in a rare Gabend Japanese outfit
