Show and Tell Friday - Homemade Stepping Stones


It's Friday today so that means it's Show and Tell Friday over at Kelli's Blog.
Since spring is just around the corner, I have been busy in my craft room making things for my garden. Here are some stepping stones I have made.

This is the plastic circle mold I use to put cement into. You can reuse it over and over.

I mix premixed cement with water that I buy at Home Depot. This is how it looks when it comes out of the mold.

I then start to glue onto the top using Weldbond Glue things I want in my design. I use broken china plates, broken glass, tile, ceramic hearts, etc. After the Weldbond glue has dried with all your pieces in place, it's now time to grout. I buy white sanded grout from Lowes. It comes in a bag and you mix it with water. You spread it all over making sure it's in all the cracks, then wipe it. After the grout has dried, you then seal it with a tile sealer for outdoors.

    I love your garden stepping stone. I have been wanting to do those for years.

    I'm so glad you showed us how to do this. I have a mold too and I thought I'd have the grandkids design a couple for me this summer. That Maison Rustique is held the 3rd weekend of every month, according to my daughter. Some months are better than others. Sometimes they have a little flea market outside too. Mimi

    Wow! These are beautiful and you make it sound so easy! I was looking at some stones online a couple days ago. Yours are just as beautiful and to think you made them yourself! Wow! Maybe I could do that, too :O). I'll have to check into it. Thanks for the great idea!

    I like yours best out of all I've seen online. Just beautiful work! It's hard to make the broken china look right-yours are perfection! I tried to make one with Quickcrete and it cracked into pieces. Which concrete mix do you use? Thanks for the tip about Lowe's grout, was buying it in little bags @ Michael's--expensive!

    Hello again, I have a patio set I have painted, and I have a beautiful rose in the center of a plate, I am afraid to try to make it stay round, any tips on saving the center of plates for a place to start?
