The First Day of the Year

Today is the first day of the year. It is 70 degrees and a beautiful day. I received my new Burpee Seed Catalog in the mail and I am getting excited for another year in the garden.
So I went out in my garden today to survey the damage from all the cold nights we have had and the rain. Because of the weather and the Holidays, I have neglected my yard so I was a little afraid of what I might find. To my surprise, this is what I found! I ran back into the house to get my camera because I couldn't believe my eyes!

A Purple Bearded Iris making a very pretty show
Beautiful Birds of Paradise everywhere in bloom!Petunias in every color all around

Purple Alyssum

Daisy Bushes

Paper Whites
Pink Hibiscus
Roses everywhere!
Even Charlie the Turtle came out from hibernation and was wishing that spring was here!

Even the boys inside were doing their wish thing for the first day of the year......Happy first day of the Year! May your year be filled with happiness, good health and a beautiful garden!

  1. Whoa! I can't believe you found all those pretties in your yard. I have to do some serious clean up. Leaves, weeds cropping up from the rain. Yucko. But I guess if I want pretties out there I need to get rid of the uglies. We are having lots of fog and overcast damp cold feeling weather right now. Yuck!

  5. I'm so jealous Ann. It's interesting that you post those Irises. I posted my Foto Friday about my dear MIL and was going to put a background of Irises, but then she also loved humming birds and the birds won.
It's so cold here tonight. I hope all the animals are warm and cozy but I know for a fact that some are not. (
    Happy New Year

  9. Your orange and white kitty looks just like my Mr. Alfie who has been gone many years now. He was the best cat ever! And so funny and such a cleanliness nut. LOL! He had the cleanest fur in catdom. ;-) Lived to be Sweet Sixteen. I like your kitty's choice of head gear. LOL!

    XO,

    Sheila :-)
