Today is Show and Tell Friday. Kelli at Kelli's House is again hosting a Show and Tell.
It looks like there's an Alligator in my Koi Pond !
Well, sort of there is! You see, there has been this hawk stealing my precious expensive Koi fish! It comes down without warning from the ski above and snatches my Koi and feasts upon them!So I heard about this invention someone came up with, its a floating life-size Alligator head. You float it in your pond and it moves and bounces all around the pond with the wind and water. It has mirror-backed eyes that flash in the sun. The birds and animals think they're being followed so they stay away.
I cannot cover my pond with a net because it is to big, plus it will also take the beauty away and I don't want to kill the hawk, so this is my last hope. My husband thinks I have truly lost it this time!
I certainly am hoping that this will work for you. Having the big bad bird steal you koi must be hard to take.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool invention! I hope it works for you...poor Koi!

Hello Ann!
ReplyDeleteLove your new friend for the pond and I hope it works for you!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Hugs,
Maryjane
Are you kiddin' me? I think it's a fabulous idea. Hey, if it works, it's perfect. And I like the effect that the head has in the pond's grassy knoll. cool.
ReplyDeleteStop by my antique show n tell if you can. [you'll need to scroll down a bit since I added the Tropical Storm update of the damage done in Houston where my son lives on the top of my blog this morning! ---]
Happy weekend.
Oh my how scarey. Perhaps I need an aligator in my chicken coop! Hawks are a big problem at Bee Haven Acres. We are always trying to outsmart them! By the way, a little birdie told me you might like a chicken apron....keep your eyes open....one might make its way to my blog! Have a great day!
ReplyDeletePretty pond and I hope your gator works for you.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a wonderful idea. Now hawk leave those koi alone!!! I truly hope it works for you. I am having to go outside (we are just on an acre) with my apricot poodle because an owl is watching her. Yikes!! The owl has swooped past several times taking a look I guess, because her coloring is basically like the rabbits around here. Scary!!
ReplyDeleteHow cool! I hope it works for you! I know it would give me a start every time I caught it out of the corner of my eye:)
ReplyDeleteI think this is a fantastic idea. Some people around here put plastic owls on their property to scare the pigeons away. It doesn't work. I can see how the alligator moving around would work.
ReplyDeleteyou are such a lucky lady and you have a beautiful blog also.......
ReplyDeleteThat is so neat, I have never seen one like that, what a great idea :)
ReplyDeleteI never thought about hawks being a danger to koi ponds! I hope that alligator works -- sounds the best solution. He does add a bit of character to the pond, too. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea! I don't think you're crazy at all. I really hope it keeps the hawk away
ReplyDeleteThis is too funny! I hope it works! Jean
ReplyDeleteWhaever works and I can tell you it would deter me! Lovely garden!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of that but I hope it does the trick! How nice you have a pond.
ReplyDeleteWhatever works! I hope it does.
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming to visit me today at S&T.
Ohhhhhhhhhhh man! We had THE worst problem with hawks this year!!! They just swoop right down and snatch the birds from the feeder!
ReplyDeleteM ^..^
Now that's a first! I've never seen anything like it. Hope it works.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Joanne
That sounds a little strange to me, lol ! I have an Italian husband and am Italian by marriage !
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog and your lovely comments.
ReplyDeleteI will be interested to find out if your alligator works! Be sure to let us know.
I hope the gator keeps the koi safe! You'll have to let us know if it works.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog. Have a wonderful weekend.
I hope this works for you. Those poor Koi fish.
ReplyDeleteI think he makes a nice addition to your pond, LOL! What a thought! I would of never known to do such a thing. I hope that it works. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my show and tell! :)
What a great idea! I hope that it works for you...I wouldn't want to put a net over my pond either.

Wow, a fake alligator. I need one to keep the cats out of my koi pond. I always thought cats hated water. My neighbor's cat spends hours waiting for the fish to come to the surface, which they do for food. Neat idea.
ReplyDeleteLove the koi pond alligator. Mine is not big enough for something like that but it is so cute.
ReplyDeletesounds like a great idea and he is kinda cute after all... maybe not to a hawk. That was a fun share. Mica
