This is an Ash tree that sits in our front yard. I have been told it is over 200 years old! Last year we had 15 feet cut off the top, and about 25 feet from its width. It now stands about 100 feet tall. In this picture I could not even capture half of it! If only it could talk, who planted this tree 200 years ago? Was it planted by a Farmer with love? The tree is so old that there is an old chain that is now part of the tree limb. Did they use this tree as a hoist? Did his children play in it? Do you think they would ever had thought that 200 years later it would still be standing and someone would love and nuture it as they did? Wow, if only it could talk........
You are blessed to have such a great tree...really sets off your home! The garden area is very pretty!
ReplyDeleteWe have mostly pines, and small trees we've planted. A tree makes alot of difference!
Anne, this is an absolutely awesome picture. You are so right, if this tree could talk... can you just imagine. It makes your large house look tiny. Wow, that is really something.
ReplyDeleteThe Pink Fairy Cottage is open for business...

Thanks so much for adding my blog to your list!
ReplyDeleteYour beautiful home looks so picturesque in that setting! How lucky you are to have that view. I live in the Piney Woods of Texas. Hence we have many, many pines. And I hate to see them cutting down so many for more neighborhoods and commercial ventures! I love our trees! They are part of history.

Hi Anne!
ReplyDeleteThanks for entering my blog give away! I love your blog and learned so much by looking at it. My husband was born in Italy, so he's 100% Italian too! I love the artichoke in bloom --what a beautiful color flower. Your front porch is gorgeous! What a beautiful home and garden you have!
Hugs, Pat
Oh Anne, that tree is beautiful! WOW, what history! Your home is GORGEOUS!! I love it!

Awww.... Love your tree! We have a large shade tree in our back yard that we believe is an Ash Tree also! It was there when we bought our home 18 years ago. We didn't have the heart to chop it down when we added on to our home and built our back deck. We had a tire swing and a baby swing on it when our kids were younger. We built our add on and deck around it. It now stands in the middle of our deck providing much needed shade here in S. California! Thank you for reminding me to be grateful for our wonderful tree!
ReplyDeleteThank you for coming by my blog. You have a beautiful home and the yard is spectacular. I love your tool shed, although if I had one I would decorate it like a tea room! Hope you come by again. I will stop by again soon also!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for coming to visit and your kind comments. I appreciate it and welcome you to visit anytime.
ReplyDeleteI have been doing a bit of peeking around on your blog. Love your garden, vintage Barbies and especially love the sweet dollhouse your Dad built for you and your sister. I love how their generation was so loyal to our country. My Dad worked for Ford and would never ever consider buying a foreign car.
I will be back to visit.
That is an amazing tree isn't it? If only it could talk. It surew would have lots of stories to tell. It looks so stately in front of your beautiful home. I think i'll just have to come and visit you and see that tree for myself, maybe have a little visit with you while I'm there?
ReplyDeleteHope youhave a great weekend.
Hugs, Rhondi
Its a small world after all...
ReplyDeleteI had no idea we had so much in common!
Now I am very curious as to where you live. Is there a private way to contact you? I am in awe of your 3 acres!
BTW, I learned to make the I spy bags from an online BYU Women's conference instruction. I think it was originally some type of humanitarian aid project.
Tell your dh all the cool kids have chickens so why shouldn't you? Just think: fresh eggs, free fertilizer, emergency storage of fresh meat... :-P
Wonderful tree! Really sets off the pretty area in front of your home.
ReplyDeleteI love your garden! And Charlie too. That is really a cool big turtle!!!!
ReplyDeleteI often wonder the same things when I see an unusual old tree or hold an old apron.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty place you live in!
Smiles,
Lea

Hello Sweet Ann!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your big, old Ash Tree! Wonder what the land looked like before your home was built on it. How many praire houses or farm houses were built there. You are blessed to have such a wonderful old tree to look at each day! What a view out of your craft room!
Love ya,
Maryjane
