Today I thought I would join Susan at A Southern Daydreamer's Blog for Outdoor Wednesday.
I love living in California but I hate the fires we have every year around this time. Thank goodness this year the fires are not in the mountains behind us (yet). We have the Cleveland National Forest behind us and every time I see smoke I freak out along with everyone else. Before we moved to this place I heard a bad fire went right through here, so I know it could happen again.
We have about 6 fires right now burning in California. The skies are gray, it looks like gray clouds in the sky, but its all smoke from the fires. The air is so thick and everything smells like smoke.
This is a picture of the fire that has everyone all excited about. It's on the Peak of Mt Wilson, (above Los Angeles) where one of the United States' Premier Observatories sit. It is also home for all the television transmission towers and cell phone towers! All the news stations are all excited they might not be able to broadcast!
If you click here, you can actually go to the Tower Cam on Mount Wilson and actually see what is happening there live!
And after you check the cam out, be sure to click here and go visit Susan at A Southern Daydreamer's Blog and see all the other Outdoor Wednesday Posts!

It looks like you live pretty close to the fires, I live in Ventura County Thousand Oaks Area and we even had smoke in the air! Take care stay inside .
Hugs, Diane
Great capture of the fire!
I clicked on the tower cam; it's so smokey that there's not much of a tower to be seen.
Thank you for your prayers yesterday. God answered.
Oh Anne, the fires are so disturbing to say the least. My dear friend lives in LA. I pray they get them in control. I also pray for everyone who could be or are affected by these terrible fires. I pray that you are safe as well.
Hugs...Jeanne
Fires are indeed scary! We are fortunate that there aren't any up here in Northern California at the moment. At least none that I am aware of yet. You got some great pictures.
I always worry about California when the wildfires start. It would be very scary to live anywhere around there. On our OKC station they were showing and talking about that WE are even seeing some of the smoke and smog from the California fires. I hope they get them put out soon.
I'm so glad you're not in the thick of things. It has to be frightening to experience this every year. We have forest fires in this area but they don't move in the same way as grass fires do. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
I was just looking at the fire on the internet last night. How scary. I hope your home and the observatory are spared.
What a terrible feeling this must be. My son spent 2 years near San Diego and was caught in his apartment with all of the roads shut down. They were just told to stay put. It was very scary and we had to call him every hour, all night long so he didn't fall asleep if and when they evacuated the complex.
Thanks for sharing and for the links.
xoxo

I do miss California but not the fires in the fall. Or the earthquakes. Mimi
I have felt so badly for my friends affected by the fires. They are really awful.
I hope your mountain stays fire free.
Blessings.
